The following is Brenda's acceptance speech
she made at the CMA AWARDS.
 Thank you...A lot of people have helped me get here tonight, and I want to start out by thanking Mr. Red Foley for giving me my first big break in music. He's also a Hall of Famer. I want to Thank my late manager, Dub Albritten. I want to Thank a man who is as responsible for my success as anyone, my dear friend and my producer, Owen Bradley. I want to Thank all the song writers and the musicians for making the music. I want to Thank my mother, Grayce and my family. I want to Thank my other family, the Shackletts, Earl & Helen. I want to Thank my children and my grandchildren, Julie, Jolie, Taylor and Jordon for sharing me with the world. And I want to Thank my husband for his love and his support and his belief through all these years. He deserves this moment just as much as I do. God gave me a voice and my audience gave me a career and for that I'm eternally grateful. And all of you...all of you here tonight through the CMA, the Country Music Association have given me the greatest gift of all and I Thank You from the bottom of my heart and I love you for letting me sing. |
